Attendance

Pupils must not miss more than 10% of the school term.

Doing so places that pupil on Academic Probation.

Pupils on academic probation must not miss any further days unless a medical certificate is provided. Family holidays (whether in Nigeria or elsewhere), scheduled non-life threatening ‘medical check-ups,’ weddings, or child imposed holidays will not be tolerated.

If a child is pulled out of school without due cause or following due process, the school will have the right to take disciplinary action.

In severe cases, the child’s admission will be withdrawn.

Discipline

Inspire Academy takes a proactive approach to discipline through mechanisms to build Self-Discipline in children.

This involves developing self-esteem and a sense of personal responsibility through volunteerism, community projects, student-led open days, contributions to school management, frequent positive reinforcement and the catching of good in others, re-direction of undesirable behaviours, training in conflict resolution skills, discussions and role plays on social issues, encouraging reflectiveness and thinking, and providing opportunities to learn greater social and emotional skills.

Parent orientation seminars are also organised to support our approach to promoting Self-Discipline.

Volunteering for Parents

At Inspire Academy we highly encourage our parents to volunteer their time in the school library, at events, at reading time during class, at assemblies and other activities.

A parent volunteer can:

  • provide individualized educational assistance to students;
  • enrich children’s experiences through activities, resources, and the gift of your time;
  • assist teachers, thus providing more time for instruction;
  • contribute to a more informed community which actively supports the school program;
  • model the importance of school and education for your child and all children;
  • model the spirit of helping and community work in the light of the school’s ethos.

If you would like to become a volunteer, please contact the school administrator.

Parents' Committee

The Inspire Parents’ Committee (PC) provides the school with the opportunity to receive feedback from parents as well as carry them along i decision making. Parents rely greatly on the expertise of teachers in the educational development of their children, nonetheless, the committee provides parents a way to offer a very different perspective on to the effectiveness of the school’s activities simply because they see how their children respond to and learn from these activities.

The involvement is bound by the schools’ rules and regulations. In line with this, the general body has a steering committee comprising of eight (8) parents and a representative of the school. This group coordinates all activities that the general body agrees to undertake and acts as a liaison between parents and the school.
